With an impressive surface area of approximately 22,404 square miles (58,026 square kilometers), it is the second-largest Great Lake by surface area and the fifth largest lake in the world. Lake Michigan also has a maximum depth of 923 feet (281 meters), making it the second deepest Great Lake.
